One thing you must put in consideration when on the quest for a successful life is your environment. Your environment can either nurture or hinder your success. Lets take a look at this topic key text from the word of God, turning to the book of Ecclesiastes 1:1-4 which reads thus:
- The words of the Teacher, son of David, king in Jerusalem:
- "Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless."
- What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun?
- Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever. (NIV)
It has been said that only a fool will be doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. If you have anything you want changed in your life for the better, you have to change your environment. This is important because if you keep on doing what you have always done, you will keep on getting what you have always got.
You need to change your habits, change what you read and watch, change your friends and change how you talk. You can possibly be doing the same things and expect a different result. It is not possible!
Obviously, change, though constant and inevitable, we do not like it. We often want status quo ante to continue. We always prefer the comfort zone. But for the sake of development and success, that is if you want them to happen, then you gotta make room for some changes.
If all the friends you surround yourself with are mediocre or those who talk negatively all the time, it will be difficult for you to rise above their level. You must begin now to make friends with people of higher level; with higher virtues and status that you can look up to.
According to Albert Einstein, "The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking."
Therefore, the greatest weapon of change is our thoughts. Change your thinking; change your heart in line with the changes you desire in your environment.
And pray to your father in heaven to help you to have the courage and will power to change the way you think, and do things in line with His will for us.
